I invented The Nancy out of necessity. I broke three ribs and couldn’t afford to take the time off to heal. And for the life of me, I could not throw the straps over a load of hay. Thank goodness the farmer helped me out and threw the straps over for me. The next week I came up with a prototype. It was crude, but it made it so much easier to get the straps over the high loads. Two years and a patent later, The Nancy Strap Thrower is here for everyone to use. And here’s why:

All the parts for The Nancy are made and assembled in the USA. The heads are made in Minnesota. And handles are made in Ohio from Yellow Jack Pine produced in Maine. I finish, package, and ship the Nancy from my office in Minnesota
Flatbed truck guys are special
Flatbed guys get out of the truck, put tarps down, strap the load down, and use bungee cords. Dave was injured while pulling a bungee cord tight, and the cord broke. He went flying backward, landed on some pallets on the shop floor, and broke a couple of ribs. The next day he had a big load of hay he needed to move. The weather was cold and snowy. On top of the bad weather, he couldn’t throw the straps over the load because of his broken ribs. Lucky for Dave, the farmer loading the hay, threw the straps for him.
Dave had the weekend to think about his predicament. He couldn’t lift his arms to throw the straps over his flatbed truck. What could he do to make it easier to throw the straps over his load? That’s when he came up with the idea for what would be “The Nancy.”
Why The Nancy Works so well for Flatbed truckers
The Nancy is an extension of your arm. A strap weighs about 5 pounds. Straps are typically 30 to 50 feet long and 2, 4, or 5 inches wide. Lucky for everybody, The Nancy will hold up to a 5-inch-wide strap.
There are two ways to throw a strap. Underhand or overhand. Each load typically has at least 7-8 straps on a 53-foot trailer. And depending on the load, it could be 12-14 straps (if you have to put 2 straps on each bale of hay). And each strap has to be in the correct location. You hook the strap on one side of the bed, throw the strap over, and tighten it down on the other side. The straps have to be aligned. With The Nancy, the straps are easy to throw and perfectly aligned after a little practice. You don’t have to muscle the straps over the load. And there’s no stress on the shoulder, elbows, or wrists.
